Portglenone Forest outside Ballymena is classed as ‘Ancient Woodland’ and is 26 acres of lovely wooded areas and greenery. Flowers in the summer add colour and character and makes it a location many flocks to for a walk or a picnic. The forest leads down onto the Bann River and from here you can look over to the other side of Portglenone. Portglenone Monastery is also neighboring the forest. Today we were here for Silvia and Ricardo as they are expecting their first child.
We had a rather overcast day which I see as a blessing because it gives this soft diffused light and really opens up opportunities to do anything. Silvia was feeling good and moving quite freely giving how far on she was and put some of us to shame at times.
I took them to the small pond that has a bridge just in front of it, mainly because if the clouds began to break we could get some nice sunlight coming through the canopy and openings from that side. We took a few pics in the area then got a little creative with some backlighting and totally changed the scene.
Silvia and Ricardo originally from Portugal but living in Northern Ireland now for a number of years, this is their first child since getting married. A very relaxed fun day with plenty of laughs, exactly how it should be.
